We live in such a time that Christianity would seem to be coming a thing of the past. The vanity and the arrogancy our humand condition is pathetic. Flesh and blood government thinks itself invincible somehow. Humility is not honored, truth and honesty are a joke, and morality is passe'.

Today we have a National Day of Prayer, which was instituted on 1952 ! ! Wow ! So we gather at our Nation's Capitol to READ the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Perhaps we should call this day "National Day of READ". Just kidding. We are all so Thankful for the "Prayers" in the Body of Christ. There WILL be prayer this year at City Halls, Parks etc. throughout our nation , and even Prayers in helicoptors flying over various sections of our nation.

At a time such as this, I'm reminded to Pray all the more fervrently for friends and acquaintances who have not yet found Life in Christ Jesus.

For some time two scriptures keep coming to my mind :

So I've heard of the "dumbing down of America" but I never thought that I would see people getting dumber so fast. Does "Freedom of Speech" still exist in America ? Hey "The Emporer has no clothes on! "
Yes, I use that a lot because it so aptly fits the "Obvious " that no one wants to talk about. To put it precisely, Obama' s "change " STINKS. Where did this guy come from? He's telling other nations what "I/WE" think, and how arrogant I/we,ve been ? This is our President, who should be representing and supporting The USA for crying out loud ! I wave the American Flag, say the Pledge of Allegiance, and "he" tears America down?

Speaking of "Freedom of Speech", I'm finding out that terms which I thought meant something , have changed. Now, to be diplomatic means "to kow tow", having an opinion means "you have a bias", Truth is now synonymous with "scare tactics".........and on and on it goes .

And .........The Church........"shhhhh, relax.........God is in Charge" . Of course God is in charge ! He's in charge of you and me ! What does the Church do? What does God say? Look in His Word ! ........ be passive ?.............or "sound the Trumpet" ? I have seen, and HATE to see "The Church" , intimidated by the world ! Sorry, but I really see that as a gross sin in The Church.

Have been thinking about this Great Country we live in, and it's two party system and revelation hit me.
What is a Consevative ? What is a Liberal?

What do Conservatives stand for?
What is their platform?
Conservatives stand for 1) Morality, 2) Justice and fairness 3) Moderation 4) protection of the people 5)Government OF the people.

What do Liberals stand for?
What is their Platform ?
Liberals stand for 1) Immorality, 2) Lawlessness, 3) Greed, 4) control of the people, 5) Government run society.

Sad , but true. Yesterday I watched a panel of people discussing "socialism". One African American there said "You know what Socialism is ? Take a look at the black population in New York and Chicago. They're way dependent on government, and what has it gotten them? Ghettoes, poverty, crime and infighting."
That's where Government dependency has gotten them. " A profound statement, which I have never considered ! I also love the quote once made by Margaret Thatcher, " The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money."

Okey Dokey here, trying to find time........where does it go? It is snowing , snowing, snowing here in Northern Minnesota. Seriously, I'm actually getting tired of trying to distract myself with "things to do".
That's where the time goes, trying to pretend that inclement weather really doesn't exist.

ACORN : Stands for "Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now" Sounds like an obama speech, like what are you talking about ? He doesn't know what he's talking about either, but as long as he's saying something.........hmmmm, sounds like me trying to distract myself. Hey, i could just let obama do that for me.

Anyway, ACORN is an umbrells for a lot of things. According to "Real Politics.com" ( you really should check this one out), " ACORN claims chapters in 50 cities and has 100,000 'dues paying' members. They agitate for higher minimum wages , try to unionize (?) welfare workers(?), and organize voter registration." THey do all of this NOW, uh huh, so important because this is the Liberal agenda, and they don't have much time to shove things down our throats so fast, that they think we'll never know what hit us.

I'm hearing that un-employment nationwide is at 8%. I've also heard that in some states such as South Carolina it's as high as 19%. Wow ! But never fear , you can hook up with ACORN...uh huh. Just recently in Connecticut (sp), they hired a bunch of people to go out and demonstrate in front of an AIG building, even provided the bussing for them. Hey, this is tax free money. It's tax free because we "the populous" already pay taxes for the "government" run agency. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Does anyone out there know what the letters ACORN stand for ?
Hey, even if we are not out going and speaking out, we should be AWARE, and spend time in prayer.

Wow things just get more and more interesting. I've noted, by the way, a "peer" shaped response going on here... "Some People think that 'Ignorance is Bliss' ". Yes, I do believe that Christians should be aware of what is going on in this nation. Hasn't anyone noticed that morals here have slowly been sinking into degradation ? Abortion, same sex marriages, unwed mothers, and oh yes, not to forget the status of Christianity in our country. The Christian Community is pretty well ostrasized, and intimidated by government and the media? What are we teaching "our?" children?

I found this neat word "Indoctrination", it's defined in the dictionary as "to teach partisan and sectarian dogmas". On that note I would like to quote an excerpt that I came across re-this same subject.:

"It does not call for much imagination to see that there could be a formal recognition of the universal spirit, a theology that pays lip service to all religions, but ends up as a new age belief. This is the sort of thing that appeals to Buddhists, Hindus, and even some who claim to be Christians. It is like a religion of mankind, based on what they think is humanism and open mindedness. But at some point the world body would of necessity make evangelism and active conversion to beliefs so Doctrinaire as Christianity undesirable.

Higher

"My ways are Higher than your ways, my thoughts higher than your thoughts" says Almighty God in His Word. "Call onto Me and I will answer and show you Great and Mighty things that you don't know."
Can we even begin to comprehend "God", His Power His Glory ? The person who wrote the song "How Great Thou Art ", must have caught a small glimpse of this.

Our astronomers, our scientists, our archaeologists, biologists, physicists, certainly at some point have realized the vanity of consideration in thinking we know so much as an inth of the creative knowledge of Almighty God.

God is Amazing, beyond our thoughts. This whole universe was created by Him. The sun , the moon , the stars, not to mention our humanity. In each of His Children runs the thread of His Holy Spirit , and by the Spirit of God in each of us, we connect. We automatically know each of our brothers and sisters, just as God knows His Own.

We talk of "solar energy", "wind energy", "atomic energy", the speed of sound, the speed of light, wow ! God created these energys. We have not yet and probably never will attain to the "speed of Light". Interesting. When you even begin to approach such high speeds, dimensions begin to change. This becomes even more interesting , when we consider that according to the Gospel of John, Jesus IS "the light that came into this world", the Light that "dispels all darkness" . I choose to travel with God ! uh huh.

God must laugh, and according to His Word He does, in Psalms 2, verses two and four it says : "The Kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against His anointed".......and in verse four: " He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision..."

Does God know, oh yes, He knows and He knows and He knows........all of it from begining to end.
Who is God? God IS, that's who He is. All Power, All Glory, All knowing , that's God.
How Blessed are we to know that He IS indeed our All in All .

I remember back when, in my day,in the Lutheran Church when we had a dedicated Pastor. He started an Evangelism Comittee of six people . I need to mention here, that two of these comittee people were not saved. One was my husband, who also was a Church Elder. Anyway , the comittee would go to homes of Church MEMBERS to present the "Born Again " mandate from the Bible. This was a great idea. Today,how many Pastors do you find going to seek out the "Lost ''' sheep in the "Church " ? Ezekial 34:4

That was in the 1970's. The Charismatic Movement was born during this time. Altho the movement was not accepted by the Lutheran Church and others, it did bring about an Evangelism Explosion. At this time I was a Sunday School Superintendent, (small church), and the Lord led me with great enlightment during out 15 minute Opening Devotion Time on Sunday. I was given really amazing presentations and the Sunday School was filling with kids.

I had been enlightened to the working of The Holy Spirit through Pentecostal friends. I kept it "under wraps" though. It was unacceptable in the Lutheran Church.
The Lord also led me into banner making and hand printing "scripture posters" as well. The results, because of the "Hand of the Lord " upon me, were amazing, to say the least.

Well, word gets around, and at one point I was admonished by the Pastor who told me that "some Charismatics were found at his sister's Church and they were asked to leave." OK, so finally after months of prayer, and trials, I left that church. I realized again what a destructive force in the Church are "the Doctrines of Men"

Amazing, "unsaved" men evangelizing and holding the office of Elder in the Church and yet how "wrong " to let The Holy Spirit : our empowerer, our enabler, our teacher, our gift giver and our encourager in !
Excuse me, The Holy Spirit Proclaims those things of Jesus Christ hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Hello..Church ??

Has anyone bothered to ask the Lord lately: Are we doing Ok Lord ? Show us TODAY, your way for us, Your Plan Lord.

Today women or men who receive Christ and get Saved look for a Church. Often a close friend or Christian relatve brings them into their Church. THe Church seems ill prpared to deal with them. Why ? Perhaps one of the reasons is "Doctrines of Men"
Perhaps the Church has gotten set in Her ways. Most people , like myself , through experience pretty much discern "the order of the day".

The Lutheran Church proceeds thusly : Calm down, shhhhh, others don't understand your being "saved" Lay low.

The Baptists thusly: Is he/she really saved ? Do they meet our 12 point criteria ? If they do maybe they qualify to give
a testimony. Hey don't we have five District meetings this week and 3 Conventions?

The Assemblies of God thusly : Hmm if they'll act like us , talk like us, walk like us and dress like us.......maybe.
Nursery and Potluck for the women. Men's Fellowship breakfast, and weekend retreat for the men.

Catholics thusly: "Hierarchy is Us", Protocol is god.

So we could go on and on . What do we do ? My Bible says that Christ is the Head of the Church, Jesus Christ that is. An Us ? We are the Body of Christ, functioning as the head directs. What description fits your Church ?:

Elitist, Secular, Exclusive, Big Business,
Small Business, Sexist, Territorial,
Self Righteous,Grapevine, Intimidating
Controling, Cultish ??????

Perhaps you are Blessed and have a wonderful Church, but this is not so for many.

Wow, what a Great Game: Pittsburg 27, Cardinals23. Me and a couple of members of the family were cheering The Cardinals on, but it didn't matter, It was a Truly Exciting Game. Harrison ran that whole field at the end of the second quarter...how fun..however, in the 4th quarter he should have been sent out for the "un-necessary roughing", he was really getting bullish. holy moly I've never seen such spectacular energy as Fitzgerald has, WOW, again. Really whoever won , this will go down as one of the Really Great Games. We sure had fun with it ! YEA !!

Joel Osteen, I Love You , what an encourager ! My daughter told me about his last weekend sermon , and me (being highly imaginative ) swallowed the whole thing. It really helps to be imaginative when you are a Christian, because without some imagination we'd never be able to comprehend the "bigness" of God. Now you see, many,many years ago I had decided that the rock ledge in our basement is there for a reason, of course it is ! I was sure that if someone drilled there, they would hit a gyser of OIL, uh huh. So Dear Joel tells this story about a couple who discovered , that on their property , under their house, and throughout their yard, was a huge deposite of ... OIL. YEA ! They became like totally rich overnight. So now I Believe that I must be a Prophet and that there IS in fact an oil rich deposite under MY house.
I am going to get right to it on this because, I'm a Believer and highly imaginative. I will leave you with this thought. Is she really serious ?

SO GOOD TO BE BACK HERE. The weather is PERFECT: cool, windy, cloudy and sunny, all at once. It stirs my thoughts, puts a bounce in my step, and declares an energy and freedom, that is difficult to explain. Almost two years now, and I`ve been through 3 wars (personal) and 2 Great Victories. I often used to wonder,"who cares", but now I realize that I need to care...and to share, because after all, all of us aren`t
exclsively different from one another. We all need validation in some way or another, we all go through war of some kind or another, we also have victories, and we all have to learn how to move forward and maintain "Life" within our sphere. It`s good to be back
and consider real Life and Living.

Wow! The past six weeks of my life have been VERY busy, both physically and emotionally. My every emotion of my being has been pushed to the max. NOT FUN! At this time in my life to have the full realization, that being a Christian is not always easy or pleasant, having that realization exploded all over me at once, was very painful.

To lift up my head and "focus on things above.." , and Trust in The Lord....was NOT HIGHon my list of things to do. To quit, to cry, to engulf myself in anger and thoughts of revenge?, and SCREAM was.

I`m not naive. I`ve been through rejection and "wrongsuffering" oftentimes in my life. I`ve been falsely accused, and verbally abused (yeah really), but this.......this was all Hell breaking loose...SUDDENLY!

I rode the waves, the gigantic forboding waves....through the gamut of the onslaught,.........miserably. Finally, being destitute of any feeling, finally numb to it all...I was..defeated???

Woah, wait a minute, depression, discouragement, isolation, defeat..this is NOT from God. Myhead went up...so did my spirit.

My mind was flooded with The Word of God..My Comforter filled me ...PEACE. I`m NOT DEFEATED,

MY ENEMY IS!

The Holy Bible states that, "God is Love". Love is , when you actually love someone as much as you love yourself. When you want " good things" for someone as much as you want " goodthings" for yourself, that is love. When you care about some one as much as you care about yourself, that is love. Wow, that`s a tall order! Where can you get that stuff? We are really too self-caring and too self-centered to come up with that. You get it from God. "God is Love "

Church, Churches and Churching

Most of my adult life, my friends have been church friends. However, I have not been attending my usual church, or any church at all for some time. Therefore, I don't see many of these people except for now and then and I do miss that.

Like every other Christian that I know, I do maintain my walk in Christ Jesus, but then I am outside of the body, and also missing fellowship, which is important and this is not good.

Obviously, I am having some church problems. I have strong needs to belong. I already do belong to the church, the "body" of Jesus Christ; and that means that I do belong to every Christian church, but I need to have the realization of belonging when I am there and "in church." That is the part of belonging that I am missing. That is the congregational part.

In pursuing this matter through prayer and meditation in the Word, I have realized that congregations are usually one of two types. There is the type of congregation that functions in UNITY or the type which functions in UNIFORMITY.

Those which function in UNITY function together to FULFILL God's purpose. Unity brings with it freedom to function in like-purpose with a diversity of God-given personalities and gifts. Churches which function in UNITY permit the Holy Spirit to move freely in service. "Where the Spirit, there is liberty." That is GRACE.

Then there are the churches which function in UNIFORMITY. Those which function in this way, funciton together to MAINTAIN God's purpose. (Which is already immutable without our help.) In these churches UNIFORMITY stifles diversity and God's Creative Flow. Service becomes a territorial matter. That is LEGALISM.

So, I need to belong in a congregation which functions in unity of purpose.

Certainly, I don't need to belong to a membership of people who are as perfect as I am.

That would be boring.

smiles & streetlights in perspective

Have you ever spent a whole day smiling? I don`t mean "grinning like an idiot",but rather smiling at people that you come in contact with throughout the day.Well, I`ve had to work on that in recent years and find it thoroughly en-joyable.

You see, when I was very young: pre-school through Kindergarten, 1st grade,2nd grade,and 3rd grade,(which was a big chunk of my life at the time), I wasextremely Myopic.

It was a time in which "child developement" was not a particularily importantdemand on a parent , not as researched a subject as it is today. Kids werehere or there, a nice thing to have around, but not a terribly interesting subjectto the public in general. My folks never seemed to notice that I had a visualproblem and I sure didn`t know it either.

Looking back now though, there certainly seemed to be some strong indicationsof "some kind" of problem; such as the fact that I certainly seemed to be worriedabout the "Moon". It was so gigantic! ...and it actually turned out that the "Moon"that I referenced was a streetlight which shone through our frontroom window atnight. At one time , being in a department store with my mother, I stood by amannequin for a long time, wondering why my mommy wouldn`t speak to me.

There were a lot of these types of instances. It all made me quite anxious and in-secure and be fore long my face kind of froze in that expression. Since then I`ve alwayshad that kind of...serious...almost stern look.

I eventually was introduced to eyeglasses. That helped, however I then realized thatthat people actually looked at me or , God forbid, watched me....and my face just gotworse. It not only was that, but those darn glasses attracted balls on the playgroundat school. I heard about that...a lot.

So you see, I have had to work on a friendly presentation by smiling. It`s a greatthing when used correctly.For example: you don`t smile when someone is tellingyou about their pet Poodle`s sprained ankle or that someone`s sweet, favorite AuntMarigold just died. Rather,just regularsmiling at your co-workers, or at the clerk in a store, or a parking attendant.

You can give a lift to someone else by smiling as well as a lift to yourself. It`s a short mo-ment of fellowship with mankind...so SMILE! It puts things in a proper perspective.

On Netscape this weekend, and then again on NPR`s "Wait, Wait,...Don`t Tell Me", I read/heard an interesting article on a male`s response to the female`s voice called: "Why men don`t listen to women." Of course, I was already vaguely aware of this male response. It seems that men, being men, can quickly use their hinder brain for listening to menwhich doesn`t require much effort. However, women have a different tone and rythmn(described as musical), and it requires more brain power and a differenttype of thinking for a man to listen to a woman`s speech...................,which begs thequestion: What about Women? Do women listen to men?...or do they not listen to men?AND BY THE WAY: WHY? isn`t the female brain (mind) explored? Are we thatSCARY? Perhaps a look at " both sides of the same coin " on this subject, might prove interesting . I mean a serious "sit down and think ",real objectivity. We might then....come up with another interesting thought .....Do Males and females project?

The Lord`s Day. A time to reflect on God`s Creation, on His Provision , His Love, His Mercy, and on His Son Jesus Christ. It is because of God`s Provision, Jesus Christ,that we have actually become sons and daughtersof the Living God, that we will have eternal life after death, and that we havehelp for and with our lives here on earth. It is so important to belong to God.It`s important to acknowledge what His Son, Jesus Christ, accomplished forus as he shed His Blood at Calvary.Some people say: "Where was God forme when...?". If you don`t know God nor acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord,then why & how is it that you complain about what He does or didn`t do for you?That`s like not belonging to Blues & Blue Shield ( or whatever ),and yet expectingto receive benefits from them. STRANGE. Or like saying you belong toThe Rotary, and never supporting it or attending meetings. Yet, all of us dofreely receive God`s Benefits in some fashion or another: the breath of life in us,the sun , the moon, the stars, the seasons, the oceans, lakes & rivers,plants & allliving things. REALLY!

Gray, chilly thoughtful Saturday....here`s some classic family quotes:
eldest: "hi.........................." ( it`s been a lo-o-o ng time )
2nd: " this is your 2nd most favoritist daughter..." (ok)
3rd: " Hey...no Really!.....It`s a Great deal ! "
4th: " I just called to say.....Hey, that`s the name of a song, ha! " ( three times now)
5th: " ...What the heckle ! "

These days, living in a way too quiet household, I`ve begun to listen to Public Radio as a source of entertainment, while doing projects and chores. They really are a quite biasedliberal bunch, (especially during an election year). Oftentimes their political and religiouscommmentaries grate on my ears. However...They have other excellent, and varied spotswhich are truly interesting and entertaining. In this past week I have heard news and/orother programs as varied as: The Iran situation with the UN, their request for im-proving their nuclear facility in Netahn. According to the broadcast, Iran already hasenough turbines,and other nuclear material way in excess of the need for further imple-mentation. They could do excessive nuclear damage in the way of weapons and bombswith what they already have. Then, I heard a copy editor , writer of a new book , onnew descriptive terms for wind velocity. Also a comentary on the now archaic "Lobotomy",a Quaker Nude summer Camp for boys, and a contest for the "Hairiest Male in LA"...the prize for which was: a $2,500 gift certificate for permanent hair removal. The human comedy never ceases. Then there is the famous "Prairie Home...whatever" with Garrison Keiler (sp?),"The Car Guys", and "Wait, Wait, Don`t Tell Me " on the weekends, not to forget gourmet cooking,travel, written sequences from several authors and political, medical, millitary, film critics, andmany other issues. And life goes on.
